I Am an American

I AM AN AMERICAN

I was born with the freedom and the opportunity to be all that I might be.

This birthright was purchased with the blood, tears and lives of millions who came before me.

To them I owe an eternal debt of gratitude and service for their sacrifice.

I AM AN AMERICAN

I place no word before that title for I am an American and only an American.

My loyalty is to one land, one people, one Constitution and one flag, before all others.

I pledge my allegiance only to America, her people, her Constitution and her flag.

I AM AN AMERICAN

I accept the duties and responsibilities inherent in that title.

I will strive to be moral and knowing, in thought deed and word, and responsible for my actions.

I vow eternal vigilance and defiance to all tyrants and battle to all enemies of the spirit that is America.

I AM AN AMERICAN

My heritage is the indomitable will of a free people, dedicated to freedom and individual justice for all.

It is my responsibility to nurture, protect and pass this heritage on to those who follow.

I accept this trust and will remain true to my responsibility, no matter the cost.

I bow my head only to my creator, before whom I will one day stand for judgment.

When that day comes, I will not fear for;
